Cutie Patootie

Need I say more?

Okay, I know I’m cheating.  If you hadn’t noticed, I’ve managed to post every day this year, and I’m trying to keep that up for as long as I can.  But right now my brain isn’t working all to well to put actual words together for a post, so I’m just distracting you with a photo.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring words.

Dummy I Spat It, She Sucks It

What’s that sound?  What sound?  You’re right!  It’s silence.  Cayley is sleeping peacefully.  Not crying.  Sleeping.  I gave her a dummy and she’s fallen asleep.  Now we just have to see if that trick works more than once.

Neither Brett, nor myself are particularly keen on the idea, but I decided to give it a go.  Over the last few days Cayley has pretty much cried non-stop between feeds on several occasions.   It is heart-wrenching and ulcer inducing.  Not to mention the fact that I’ve been falling asleep on the couch with her in my arms.

I think we’ll trial this for a few days and if it is more successful than pacing up and down and around the house patting her on the bum, shhhhing in her ear, singing songs and generally feeling desperate I think we might stick with it.

You got any tips?

I Did It!

Little Loser

Have actually managed to get a bit creative with my scrapping supplies.  Okay, it’s not much, but I’m proud of having actually completed something.

Am part of a group of ladies at The Little Scrapbook Shop trying to lose a few of those extra kilos.  As incentive Narelle sent each of the members the same number of flowers as kilos that they’d like to lose.

And this is what I’ve done with mine.

Am quite pleased with my loss so far, okay I know I cheated, I lost a whole baby and all the associated stuff that goes with that, but I’m now under my pre-pregnancy weight, and for three weeks and one day, I don’t think that’s too bad at all!

Must say, I’m absolutely looking forward to getting back into things at Curves.  But a few more weeks until that is allowed.

I Wonder

I wonder if our daughters will be as good friends as we are?
I hope so. It’s nice to have someone so special in your life.

Romilly and Cayley

And, as promised… ta da, The Moth Dance. I managed to get him to perform for the camera. The only problem is that he is putting it on, and it’s not quite true to form, but I don’t think I’m going to manage to get any better than this. Enjoy.

I Think I Must Be Sleep Deprived

Last night Elisha stayed at Nan and Pop’s place.  We tried to ask him some questions about his time there, but every single question was answered the same – “Yeah”.  So no real enlightenment on what he did while away.  As nice as it was to not have to entertain him for an extended period it was even nicer picking him up.

Thanks Nan & Pop!

We went to Carousel shopping centre to meet up with some uni-day friends of Brett’s.  By the time we’d had lunch and yarned, it was well and truly past Elisha’s bed time and we decided to forgo the nap for today.

Went to Medicare and sorted out some more bills, added Cayley to the card and all that new baby jazz.

On the way home Elisha was looking like going to sleep, so we decided to take a long way home so he’d have a little bit of a rest.  We, ahem, went past McDonald’s, got a thickshake (should have got a regular, not a large) and some cookies for Elisha, just in case he woke up.

As we were just about to our off-ramp on the freeway Brett asked me if I needed anything from the scrapbook shop.  I answered, “No”.  WHAT!  What was I thinking.  HELLO!!!! Never give up an opportunity to scrapbook shop.  Think I might need a bit more sleep.

I did however suggest a stop at our local shops, and I picked up a scrapping magazine and a movie for Elisha.

So Elisha has now watched his first movie.  The Tigger Movie.  And he actually sat and watched the whole thing.  And when it finished… he wanted to watch it again.  Perhaps daddy can take him to the cinema after all.

Cayley is still a bit unsettled, it’s now 24 hours since I took my last antibiotic, still hoping that it was related to that.

December was the Month of the Moth

I can’t remember exactly how it came about that Elisha decided he didn’t like moths. A month or so ago, I’m sure he loved them. Ah, but toddler love is fickle.

I think it happened one night when we were putting him to bed. There was a tiny little moth flying around his bedroom and he ordered Daddy to, “Catch the moth!”. Which of course daddy did. But then, “Let it go!”. Which of course daddy did.

After singing and praying he wanted the moth to be caught again. I’m sure daddy would have complied but the moth was gone. Vamoosed. Disappeared.

In a possible attempt to stay out of bed he became overwhelmingly upset and agitated stating over and over in near hysteria, “I don’t like moths, I don’t like moths”.

This has been repeated (though the urgency has diminished somewhat) every night since. As well as not liking moths he has invented the “Catch a Moth” dance move, which involves lots of flitting around and snatching at pretend moths in the air.

A week or two after the dance move was coined, and it dawned on him that telling us he didn’t like moths was pretty much like crying wolf, he decided on a new tactic, which was to have a moth in his hair. Which daddy has to catch and remove every night.

I love this pretending, I can see we are going to be in for a lot of fun.

Last night I thought we had gotten away without a single mention of the moths. I turned out his light and started down the passage way. “Don’t like moths!”, followed me down the hall.

ps: I am going to try and convince Elisha that to do his “Catch a moth” dance move for the camera would be a really fun thing to do. And then I’ll show the world. Or at least anyone who reads this blog.

A Big Surprise, But a Pleasant One or Two

Uh Oh - LayoutAnother winner! This time at Anna’s Craft Cupboard, for their December product competition. The challenge was to use foam stamps. The title and orange swirls are the required item in this layout.

Actually these photos are quite funny. Elisha has a toy baby, and a toy kitchen. Put the two together, and you don’t get the baby being fed dinner, you get the baby being microwaved!

I wonder what Elisha has in store for Cayley. Now that I think of it, it was the frypan from this kitchen set that he chose to hit her on the head with. I think I was the most upset over that incident. Cayley whimpered for all of two seconds, Elisha ended up in his bedroom because he didn’t want to apologise, and I had a cry. I’ll just blame it on hormones.

We had a visit from the Child Health Nurse this afternoon. Cayley is stacking on the weight, which is very nice to know seeing as she seems to be throwing up all the time.FattyBoomBah

Cayley’s weight statistics:
15/12/2006 – 3910grams
18/12/2006 – 3630grams
21/12/2006 – 3860grams
02/01/2007 – 4500grams

I think we could be in for this look again… —>

Too big!Quite amazing really how much difference nearly two years makes, and yet how much the same he still is.

Here he is today in a toy that was his and I’ve pulled out to use with Cayley. I think I’m going to have a hard time breaking it to him that he doesn’t fit anymore!

Where Has All the Scrapping Gone?

Somewhere under the messy desk!  I’ve been trying to clean the scrapping table since getting home from the hospital, but somehow it is just not getting done.  Every time I start something crops up and I need to divert my attention.  Today was going to be THE day and I was going to get it done.  But looks like it will have to be tomorrow.

Tender Moments - LayoutI’d like to make an effort to put more scrapping creations up for display, so here’s one I’ve had in reserve.  I entered this into the Scrapbooking Top50 Australia December sketch challenge, and found out today, I won.  Suprised and absolutely stoked.

I’ve got a couple of others up my sleeve just in case I don’t manage to get that desk tidied tomorrow.  Here’s to hoping that it does happen though.

One reason that I need to get the desk tidied is that I got a lamp to go on the table for Christmas, from Cathy.  Yay, no more scrapping in shocking light.  Thanks again Cathy, love it can’t wait to use it.

I’ve also been wondering if the arrival of a daughter is going to affect my scrapping style.  It’s certainly going to even out the amount of pink to blue in my stash.  Already been to the local scrap shop to get some pink cardstock.  Any reason for a good bit of scrap shopping though hey?!

We’ve been retiring to bed rather early the last few nights, and it’s getting towards that time now, so I’ll see you all tomorrow.
