Seven years ago I became a mother.
Elisha, I’ve loved having you as my first born.
You are a treasure and a delight.
It has been amazing to watch you grow in every way.
From a little baby, to the big boy that you are now.
From knowing nothing, to voraciously reading books, and soaking up all sorts of information.
From crying as your only form of communication to having long conversations on your favourite topics.
From knowing nothing about our Father in heaven, to knowing more about him, and caring about others knowing him.
From being the only child to having two younger siblings.
This year you did not have a party with friends from school.
But we did have a very fun day.
We went to Ikea for breakfast.
And then on to Aqwa.
And last but not least, home for an afternoon tea.
Different people came and joined in at all the locations of your travelling birthday. It was really, very fun, and no stress. We’ll have to do something like that again.
Here in the Adams’ household, we LOVE lego. Just ask Brett, he even has his own special Star Wars set. But once the kit has been built, and pulled apart several times, the pieces end up in the rather large container of lego that we own. And that’s when the real creativity sets in.
Now over to Elisha.
This ship is the first made by Zoinks Droid Shark. It can shoot from the back and front. The net can catch three or two people in one go. The generators create a ginormous shield.
This is the second powerfullest ship. Those things at the back can shoot and create a shield at the same time. The front things are if they go in mine they are safe. The man has special protection because the frying pan he can fry bullet pancakes and throw them at people, bad things and explode them.
Lego ship three is the smallest and its only two powers is to blow up things and to give people good hopes.
This is the master ship. It has a pet name “Scooper” because it looks like the digger on the front of a digger. It can also go through mines, but it has to go through the back. They’ve got four people in it. It’s got a little thing which looks like a key. It’s actually a crystal that can freeze anything. And they’ve got this little scooter.
And let’s go over to Cayley now.
It’s got grass for the animals, because it’s got animals in its ship. One of the people are the look out with a gun. And some of the people are dead even though their heads are still on. And when they go out, they have their jets on. And the tow-truck piece is to stop the tow-trucks from coming in. Also they can splat invisible jam and vegemite onto people’s heads.
Elisha has never played a team sport before this year.
While we were on hoidays at the beginning of the year, we picked up some small hockey sticks in an op shop. The kids had a great time mucking about with them. Just quietly I may have had heart palpitations every time someone lifted the hockey stick up in the air, but we are still serious injury free to this day.
When registrations came out, we signed Elisha up for Minkey. May 14th was his first actual training and game.
He loves it.

Brett played hockey for most through most of his school years, and I think he’s having fun hitting the ball around too.
We’ve enjoyed getting outside in the fresh (sometimes brisk) air and cheering Elisha on.
Cayley and Jos haven’t complained of boredom, they find too much to enjoy.

And I can see that there are many benefits to being part of a team. I’m so glad that we signed him up.
Even if we do have to be at the ground by 8.20 on a Saturday morning.
Go Stingrays!

I have been going through all our digital photos over the last few days, working on an SD card for a digital photo frame. The memories they bring back are absolutely precious.
I’ve also had a bit of an epiphany about just how quickly the children grow… looking at photos of Elisha the age that Jos is now, and recognising I’ll never get the chance to experience him like that again.
Every day is full of possibility, chances to have fun together and train their precious hearts. Too often I am busy, distracted and feeling overwhelmed. Time for me to focus on what is really important.
I am SO thankful for my Father reminding me just how special each moment of each day really is.
And speaking of photos, how cool is this?!
